1. Can I email the Municipal Court questions about my ticket?

2. What constitutes a court appearance?

A telephone call does not constitute an appearance. Any requests for action on a case must be made in person or writing. Any written request must be signed by the defendant (manually, or electronically by typing your full name) and submitted with photo identification, phone number, email and mailing address. Written requests or correspondence may be submitted in person, by postal mail at 104 Cross Creek, Lakeway, TX 78734, or by email Scanned and attached) at court@lakeway-tx.gov . Please Note: If you correspond with the Court via email, all future correspondence and official notices from the Court will be delivered to you at the email address used.

3. How should payment be made for my citation?

Payment in most cases can be made online at www.paylakewayticket.com, in person, or by mailing a money order, cashier’s check or personal check. The court accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Pay Your Ticket Online

4. How do I request a payment plan?

If you enter a no contest or guilty plea, and would like to request additional time to pay your citation in full, you may request a monthly payment plan, in most cases. If you choose to request a payment plan, you must complete the application in full, and submit it with your plea and request. Any request for action on a case must be made in writing or in person, and must include an original signature and photo identification. The request can be submitted in person at the Lakeway Municipal Court, by email at court@lakeway-tx.gov. Please note that if you request a payment plan, pursuant to the Local Government Code, Sec. 133.103, an additional $15.00 will be assessed on each violation, unless you pay the entire balance in full within 30-days from the date of judgment.

5. Where is my ticket filed?

The Lakeway Municipal Court generally processes cases originating with the Lakeway Police Department and Code Enforcement. If your citation was issued in the City of Lakeway by the County Sheriff’s Department or DPS, it is likely not filed in this court. Please refer to the information provided in your ticket by the agency.

6. What is my Eligibility for Driving Safety Course (DSC)

You may be eligible for a Driver’s Safety Course if you were cited for a moving offense (with a few exceptions; please contact the Court for these), if you have not taken the course in the previous 12 months to have a citation dismissed. You must enter a plea of No Contest or Guilty, request to take the Driver’s Safety Course, and sign an Affidavit attesting that you have not completed a Driver’s Safety Course in the past 12 months. Additionally you must furnish the Court with: 1. A copy of your Texas Driver’s License or proof of active military duty, and, 2. A copy of proof of insurance showing your name as an insured driver. 3. Payment of the Court Costs, plus a $10 administrative fee. Payment may be made in person or by mail in the form of cash, check or money order, Visa, MasterCard, American Express. Payment for DSC may be also requested online at www.paylakewayticket.com. Once the Court has approved your request, you will be given 90 days to complete an approved course and provide proof with the Certificate of Completion and a copy of your Driving Record obtained by the Department of Public Safety (Version 3A):

2. Obtain your driving record as early as possible! In many cases, the Texas DPS will allow you to print your driving record (Type 3A) directly from their website, however there are a variety of reasons that could prevent you from doing so. If you are unable to directly print your driving record, you may be required to mail in your request, which could take approximately 14 days.
3. It can take up to 7-10 days to receive your driver’s safety certificate in the mail, even if you take the course online. The Court can only accept the original, signed “court copy” of the driver’s safety certificate. A receipt or screen-print from the internet will not be accepted. Pay for Driving Safety Course

7. What is the dress code for court?

All attire shall be appropriate to show respect to the Court. All court participants shall remove hats, caps, or any materials that cover their head when entering the courtroom, except religious hats or materials, such as yamakas, turbans, or chunis. All shirts will be tucked in. Clothing that would be considered unacceptable includes, but is not limited to:

A. Shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits. B. Low-cut blouses or tops.
C. Skirts or dresses that are short (less than halfway from knee to top of thigh).
D. Muscle shirts, shirts with no sleeves, undershirts, clothing with lewd, sexual, offensive,vulgar, racist, sexist, obscene, or sexually suggestive words, slogans, depictions, or pictures, including grotesque creatures.
E. Clothing that is dirty, torn, or ragged.
F. Clothing that is too tight, too short, excessively baggy, pant waists worn below the waist. G. Hats, caps, or bandanas.
H. Dirty Work Boots, sandals, flip flops.

8. What information do attorneys need?

The Lakeway Municipal Court does not appoint attorneys or lawyers. You may hire an attorney to represent you in Court and have the attorney file a letter of representation with the court. If you are a juvenile (under the age of 17) and have an attorney representing you in Court, you and your parent/guardian still must appear.
