The Canyonlands encompasses twenty-four (24) acres of spectacular Canyon scenery that can be viewed on the rim or into the canyon trails. This Canyon is the upper reaches of the Rough Hollow Cove that is a major arm of Lake Travis to the west of the City. The scenery of the canyon from the overlooks along the rim trail is truly breathtaking, on a par with other great vistas in the State of Texas. The entrance is through the access easement trail starting on Trophy Drive across from Swim Center Park. The trailhead is located on the west side of Trophy Drive. While the primitive trails are easily navigated, some require greater physical effort. Hikers are advised to wear good walking or hiking shoes and carry water. Dogs are permitted on leashes. Do not move rocks or boulders; the rocks are in place to control erosion. Be careful to stay well back from cliffs and overlooks, as there are steep drop-offs. Enjoy the spectacular views!
