At Monday evening's City Council meeting (December 16, 2019), the Transportation Steering Committee presented recommendations for transportation improvements for the City of Lakeway. The recommendations include extensions of Main Street, Lohmans Spur and Medical Drive, along with road improvements to O-Reilly and Pyramid between the two schools. The recommendations also include an extension of Farris Drive, new Shared Use Path and filling additional sidewalk gaps within the city. The list of recommendations are the result of months of work by the committee and the city's consulting firm, Huitt-Zollars to complete a study to identify short and long-term multi-modal improvements to Lakeway's transportation infrastructure. The study was approved by City Council in July. Over the past several months, the Transportation Steering Committee has been receiving traffic data from the consulting team, along with public comment on possible transportation options. They evaluated hundreds of comments from residents through an Open House in October and online submissions to help come up with a list of recommendations.

City Council will evaluate the recommendations for next steps in early 2020.
