Welcome

Chief Glen Koen is a graduate of Round Rock High School and the University of Texas in Austin (UT). Additionally, he graduated as valedictorian from the West Point Leadership Academy. Chief Koen served in a variety of law enforcement roles with UT over the past two decades, including patrol officer, sergeant, detective sergeant, inspector and academy commander. He was one of the founding members of the System Rapid Response Team, a unit created to handle critical incidents for the UT system. He most recently served as Assistant Police Chief with the Mukilteo Police Department, which is a community just north of Seattle in Washington state. In that role, he also served as the Commander of the North Sound Metro SWAT Team, which is a multi-jurisdictional tactical team serving a population of around 370,000. 

Chief Koen comes to the City of Lakeway with a variety of certifications and training, including: a SWAT Operation Certification; Field Training Officer Certification; Emergency Vehicle Operations Course Instructor Certification; Mental Health Officer Certification; Crisis Intervention Training; Incident Command System Training; Basic Hostage Negotiation Training; and several others. His awards include two Supervisor of the Year honors, Instructor of the Year, Academy Commander Award of Excellence, and several other commendations.
