a Bennett is the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Lakeway. She began her career with the City in 2007 as the Swim Center Manager. In 2008, she was promoted to Director of Parks and Recreation as a valuable member of the management team. Andra is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional with the National Recreation and Park Association, and completed the NRPA Director’s school in 2009. She is a seasoned Director who brings dedication to excellence, sprinkled with humor, to everything she does.
Ms. Bennett grew up in the Lake Travis area, and has called this her home since the mid 1970’s. Prior to joining the City of Lakeway, she was the Outdoor Program Manager and certified Camp Director for the Girl Scouts of Central Texas.
Ms. Bennett continually looks for ways to improve the Parks and Recreation Department’s level of service to the community, adding numerous upgrades to the parks system including additional trails, playscapes, restrooms, landscaping, and facility and programming improvements. As Director, she is responsible for the management of the parks, trails and greenbelts, forestry, landscaping, and volunteer efforts. In addition, Andra oversees the Lakeway Swim Center, Activity Center, Heritage Center, all city-wide events, and the annual operating budget. She also works in concert with the Arts and Heritage Committees, and is the July 4th Committee Chair.
In her free time, Andra loves spending time with her family, playing games, or catching a movie. She loves to travel, and is always up for the next adventure. When time allows, she and her husband can be found at the coast casting their lines or strolling along a fairway.
