Clean Air Participation

Clean Air Coalition

The City of Lakeway is a proud member of the Central Texas Clean Air Coalition of the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) and is committed to implementing pollution reduction measures aimed at minimizing the generation of air pollutants, particularly ground-level ozone and particulate matter. Regional air pollution levels were considered “Moderate” or worse on more than 30% of days in the last few years, according to the National Air Quality Index. Breathing air with “Moderate” levels of ground-level ozone can cause health problems for sensitive groups and, as levels rise, begin to affect more and more members of the community.

Ozone Action Days

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will issue an Ozone Action Day for a metro area when the ground-level ozone levels are forecasted to reach levels that are “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups”. On these days, it is especially important that members of the community take measures to minimize the production of air pollution and that affected groups limit outdoor activities.
