Exciting news! The Cavalier Chapter of the Young Men's Service League is donating its 2019 Ultimate Gift to Lakeway residents! Two hundred volunteers will contribute at least two hours each to the effort to clean up flammable dead and downed wood in Hamilton Greenbelt. Watch the "reveal" of the Ultimate Gift in this clever video from Mayor Pro Tem Laurie Higginbotham:
The investment of time and energy by the young men and their moms will save Lakeway taxpayers an estimated $37,400 in labor costs!
Workdays are scheduled from 10 a.m.-noon and 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. every weekend in November:
There will be two shifts each scheduled workday, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Bottled water and snacks will be provided. Volunteers should wear long pants, sturdy shoes and clothing appropriate to the weather. Work gloves and safety glasses will be available for those who can't bring their own.
The first workday will tackle a section of Hamilton Greenbelt II which is accessible from Clubhouse. To reach the meeting site, drive north on Clubhouse just past the home at 136 Clubhouse. Look for the tall electrical tower on the left side of the road. Park in the area just past the two dumpsters behind the line of orange cones. If that small parking area is full, park on the north side of Clubhouse or drive up a little further to park in a wide grassy area on the north side just past Golf Crest. Meet under the tall electrical tower at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.
